Meet up at Riverbend Forest Preserve We’ll be cleaning up an area from the Sangamon Greenway to Riverbend Forest Preserve We’ll meetup first and shuttle our group or groups upriver to their cleanup section. Transportation will be provided on an as-available basis and there will be a picnic lunch afterward with food provided by the USRC for all volunteers. Cleanup portion should end between 1 and 2pm. We will also attempt to improve the canoe launch point at the river. Some tools will be available for all, but please bring your own tools if you prefer.

Mudpuppies are a threatened species of salamander that sound like a puppy barking when on land. And, we have them right here in Monticello in the Sangamon River! Sangamon River Corridor Preserve 802 Allerton Rd, Monticello, IllinoisJoin the Land Conservation Foundation's Stewardship Saturdays at its Sangamon River Corridor Reserve near Monticello. Meet at the Sangamon River Corridor Reserve on Allerton Road, just west of the Monticello Golf Club, from 9:00-11:00 am. Interested volunteers need only bring a pair of work gloves and their drinking water or snacks, if desired. LCF will have any tools if necessary.
