Independence Street, MonticelloCome celebrate the Sangamon River's coolest creature! 3rd Annual Mudpuppy Festival scheduled on Saturday, February 1, 1-4 pm at the Monarch Brewing Company in Monticello. Mudpuppies are a threatened species of salamander that sound like a puppy barking when on land. And, we have them right here in Monticello in the Sangamon River! Land Conservation Foundation’s Stewardship Saturdays
Sangamon River Corridor Preserve 802 Allerton Rd, MonticelloJoin the Land Conservation Foundation's Stewardship Saturdays at its Sangamon River Corridor Reserve near Monticello. Meet at the Sangamon River Corridor Reserve on Allerton Road, just west of the Monticello Golf Club, from 9:00-11:00 am. Interested volunteers need only bring a pair of work gloves and their drinking water or snacks, if desired. LCF will have any tools if necessary.
